Just checking in with you all. Sorry this post is quite late. Nothing much new to report. We're still trading at a loss even with Sarah furloughed. I remain determined to push through until lock down gradually lifts to stay on top of all your orders.
Once again I want to thank people who have purchased processing and scanning from us throughout this pandemic. It's really helping minimise the financial damage. Hopefully the tide will turn soon.
So we've made it to the 6th Covid-19 deadline and Gauge is still open and fully operational (albeit at a slower pace). Firstly I just want to say a huge thanks to everyone that has purchased processing and scanning over the last few weeks. You're the reason we're still operational.
Turnaround for scanning only is under the two week mark whilst turnaround for processing/scanning is at around 4-6 weeks due to the slow intake. If this changes I'll let you all know in a future post.
Please do try to resist emailing me if you know your film arrived here safely. With Sarah furloughed and other family commitments I have limited time to work. I did mention this in the last post but I still have lots of emails coming in.
I'll keep assessing the situation fortnightly moving forward and posting here. As long as I can cover the bills I'll keep working so please do keep the processing and scanning coming in.
As we approach the 4th Covid-19 deadline sales have unfortunately continued to drop. Sarah (my partner in celluloid crime) has been furloughed because we cannot sustain two wages right now. I'm hoping to continue working solo with your help. Here are some things you can do to help us keep trading:
Unfortunately our local post office closed. In the meantime please post your film to the following address.
Today is the second deadline since Covid-19 really started to hit Europe. It's still business as usual here but as expected sales and film intake has been slower than usual.
Our scanning only services will be unaffected. Actually scanning will probably speed up as a result of having less film to process overall.
We will do our very best to keep our processing (and processing and scanning) work under 4 weeks but we do have to meet minimum quantities to financially justify mixing up the chemicals to process. So we would kindly ask for your patience during this challenging time. Once again we want to reassure you we will remain open throughout this crisis to keep the nation filming.
