Intake Update

Hi everyone, we have a full batch of reversal in so I'll be developing all reversal film this week. We only have 2 colour negative films in so that will have to wait until it fills up a bit.

Half of the last batch has been scanned and posted out but I'm still working on scanning the other half (just getting used to the new Muller Scanner). Sorry for the delay! I'll have them out by the end of this week. Now I've got to grips with the workflow it'll be much quicker for the current batch.

We have 29 out of 36 films in this week. Things seem to be slowing down a bit as we near November (only 3 colour reversal films came in last week). Fingers crossed 7 more slots will be filled this week and I can begin developing on the 3rd of November. I'm still working my way through all the scanning for the last batch as we had over 3000ft of film come in so it's taking a little longer than usual to work through it all due to the sheer quantity. I'm hoping to get everything scanned in and posted out on Wednesday. I'll update the blog asap.

We've only just finished a batch of developing and I'm scanning that batch this week. However I'm very pleased to say another 26 out of 36 films are in. It looks like I might be developing again next week! Fingers crossed!

C-41 Colour Neg Service

13/10/2014

I've added a C-41 service to the neg section of the website. As far as I'm aware it's the cheapest 8mm colour neg processing service in the world! I'll have some examples up on YouTube before the end of October. Over the following month I'll be taking stock of how much colour neg comes in for processing. I'm hoping that we can reach at least 24 films each month because it would warrant the use of 5L kits, thus keeping pricing down. I'm sure you all know the problem with colour neg is removing the remjet layer. It's a messy and time consuming process and in total I have to clean every film 4 times before scanning (compared to 1 clean with reversal). This explains the extra £5 compared to reversal processing prices. For this first batch of colour negative please be patient. As with all new 8mm services it can take a little time to gather momentum. Keep filming and enjoy!

Just a reminder that we run two great 8mm workshops in Birmingham. We still have 5 spaces on the Super 8 colour reversal workshop and 6 spaces on the Double 8 B&W reversal workshop. We're eager to get these workshops running on a regular basis so please share and spread the word.

New 2K Scanning Service

1/10/2014

We're pleased to announce we have two new 2K scanning services on the site. One with and one without restoration. You can go here to get an overview of the services. You'll also be happy to know we're keeping the old (and cheaper) WorkPrinter scans for you folks on a budget. Now the WorkPrinter scans are only available as 25fps AVI scans or Still Image Sequences. You will have to do all post production work like speed changes and mask addition yourself. This is because our WorkPrinter scanner only works with a 32bit computer and we have to transfer everything over to our 64bit editing system for post production work. To circumvent this time consuming and rather irritating process we now offer fully edited scans (speed changes/ masks... etc) with the new 2K scans only. Don't worry if you have already purchased H.264 scan, you'll automatically be upgraded to a Muller 2K equivalent. The WorkPrinter scans are cheaper than ever now so if you have a half decent editing computer you're laughing!
