Probably stuff you've already thought of, but I'll say it anyway just in case:

I suspect a lot of people feel the same way as you John, at least you still have black and white film at a good price though. I'll be investing a lot in B&W so even if you are disappointed with where colour reversal has got itself hopefully you can support the B&W side of things.

Thanks Simon, I too cannot wait to get the telecine on the go. I'll be looking into B&W neg soon but colour is tricky due to the remjet backing and the time it takes to remove it. You never know though with time I might be able to process colour neg. Thanks for supporting the little shop!

Hello Kevin, great to see you exploring all the options. I'm only a very occasional film (Super8) user, and have only been using reversal. (64T then 100D). I suspected the prices would shoot up now we're relying on niche suppliers like Wittner... and I think this will put me off. Kodak's negative films could be a better option though, while they're still here. But my Nizo 156XL isn't rated to meter properly from any of the now available Kodak neg. film speeds; surely many cameras now wont light-meter properly now with only 50,200 and 500 film speeds available? In all the discussion of our options, I've not heard any discussion about this yet??? Any ideas on this please?

Fortunately 50D will work in pretty much all cameras as far as I'm aware. It's compatible with the 40asa (minor difference in exposure). as far as the 200 and 500asa cameras, as it's always been the more capable and expensive cameras will rate these correctly. I'm going to be looking into B&W neg in 2013 but colour neg is a little more difficult to process.

Thanks so much, my camera is rated for the 40asa I think, so maybe 50asa is indeed 'close enough'. I'd like to try some Kodak 50D negative soon, but although it was announced in December, it doesn't seem to be available anywhere yet.... Kodak 100D (super8) supplies seems to have run out already, I've just heard Andec don't have any to sell anymore... 21/1/2013 08:57:25 am

Any thoughts on the Foma Fomapan R100? Very well priced (€20 less than Kodak for 100ft) and its available in 100ft reels Standard 8. I'm using Foma in my 5x4 large format at the moment with really nice results; anyone tried it in cine? James

Have Wittner given any indication as to whether their new Agfa based stock will be significantly cheaper than Velvia?
